Some pics from the IDRR activity in Managua, Nicaragua
The aim of this event was to make people know how the communities are working to reduce their risk to disasters and to raise awareness. This year with the slogan “Resilience is for Life” the attention was on elderly people who have specific requirements to be understood and responded. As one of the objective of the initiative was to encourage every citizen and government to take part in building more disaster resilient communities we decide to organize it in a local University (UNI) focusing our activity on a young audience.
This initaitive consisted on a conference two conferences:
– «Human Development Report 2014 : Reducing vulnerabilities and building resilience» by María Rosa Renzi (UNDP Nicaragua).
– Resilience to disasters focused on elderly people by Kizito Chiwala (HelpAge).
At the end of the event all the organisations prepared informative stands for the participants so they could get more information about resilience, risk reduction and projects carried out by the organisations.
It has been really motivating to take part in all the process preparing the event with members of different organisations working here in Nicaragua, and I also had the opportunity to collaborate in the procedures for the creation of the visibility material.
You can have a look to some pictures of the activity here in this gallery.
