Volunteer in India, New Delhi by Jara Dochao
First of all I would like to explain the country scenario:
India, the largest democracy on the earth and the second most populous country in the world is known for its diversities and unity within diversities.
There are 28 states and 7 Union territories in India. It can aptly be described as a subcontinent or a nation of nations! It has a billion plus population stretched over land interspersed with belligerent topography, friendly to hostile climatic and natural barrier. 70% of its population lives in rural India. Religion is an important dimension of the India culture.
The population is not evenly distributed over the country. It is highly concentred in some pockets, as much as 63.73% of the population lives in 31.45% of the total area. The two states of Kerala and West Bengal have the highest population density (750per sq. km) followed by two in the Northern Indo-gangetic plain, Bihar and UP. The North-Eastern zones are of low density. Shift in population due to migration from rural to urban in the last few years has further aggravated the problems of density in urban conglomerates.
Also the country is inhabited by a spectrum of socio-economic cohort, feudal social undercurrent including gender bias, religious faith and cultural practices, linguistic variation, habitation, pride and prejudices. Varied religious groups have thrived together from time immemorial in this secular state. The principal religion are Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Skih, Buddhist and Jain; Hindus being 82%.
India also is a contrast- being home to supremely rich people as well as people living in most abject poverty. Its social fabric has different shades divides on the basis of richness, cast, religious considerations, literacy, gender and culture ethos. Understandably the nation has multiplicity of problems- relating to poverty, health, livelihood causing social stress and giving rise to occasional political belligerence.

Secondly I would like to describe Chidlreach International India:
Childreach International India is a development organization that envisions “a world where all children have the opportunity to reach their full potential in life”.
They believe communities especially children have the strength and willingness to overcome their challenges but lack access to information and opportunities. We undertake direct interventions and partnerships with local organizations to build the capacities of children and adults and help them achieve their rights. We address the issues that affect access to quality education for children, gender discrimination, health and hygiene practices and other underlying issues of child rights violations. Children’s ‘Right to Participation’ is on the core of all our projects and activities.
They are a part of Childreach International, a global development organization that has projects in Tanzania, Nepal, Bangladesh and Cambodia.

We are very proud to work as volunteers in this organisation and help them in any way we can.
